The invention of giant inflatable slides had made modern day living a convenience. When we talk about giant inflatable slides what immediately comes to mind is the word fun, as these are oftentimes use as an accessory to a swimming pool. Well, giant inflatable slides are mostly utilized both as a recreational tool and as rescue equipment.

A playground can have a giant metal or wood slides or a giant inflatable slides, for without it a playground can never be as fun. The most common use of inflatable slides is for water fun. Mostly installed for swimming pools to add value for enjoyment and customer satisfaction.

History of Giant Inflatable Slides

But how did water inflatable slides came about? In 1923 Herbert Sellner invented the Sellner water toboggan slide and the primary purpose of which is for laborers doing works for the aqua duct to move down to the worksite quickly to do the fixes and repairs needed. With the water slide they can just slide their way through rather that climbing downwards. In this manner of transport Sellner noticed that morale and mood of the workers were greatly enhanced and as a result jobs were undertaken effectively and immediately. With Sellners love of fun and entertainment and of his creative mind, he then developed and introduced the concept of it and had become the modern day water slides that we know today. The slides with the discovery of modern materials then evolved to be the giant inflatable slides that we now use. These water slides had now became the mainstream of every water parks, swimming pools, beaches, and even in some residential backyard pools and playgrounds.

Giant Inflatable Slides for Safety

Giant inflatable slides are not only used for fun. It is as well equipment that is mostly used in the airline industry. Because of the physics that goes with the principle of slides, it is being utilized by airlines for rescue and emergency purposes. When an aircraft performs an emergency landing passengers disembark the plane not through the stairs but through the giant slides. This is the quickest way of evacuating the threat of danger of an exploding aircraft or an airplane about to be engulf in flames. The first aircraft inflatable slides was first developed and manufactured by a company called Air Cruisers which was then founded by James Boyle. Aviator Jack Grant also contributed to the development of the modern day aircraft inflatable slides. It is also referred to as ramp slide in the airline industry. It is now the standard platform for airline evacuation and is mainly used in the main exit of a wide bodied airplane such as an Airbus 310 and Boeing 757 and 767. Before the inflatable slides became an industry standard, canvas slides were used. The big challenge about canvass slides is that it requires the crew’s extensive effort in the rigging procedure which is not good in an emergency.

Giant inflatable slides had evolved from the idea of transporting laborers to quickly do fixes and repairs in the aqua ducts. It has also evolved for the need to evacuated distressed airline passengers from eminent dangers. But the most wonderful part is that we use them today to simply have fun.
